Dear Friends & Partners,
Greetings from the ADM family in Zimbabwe. We are thankful for 2015 and excited at what God has in store for us and is already doing this year. We are pleased to share highlights of recent events that have taken place within the mission.
WATER PUMP TRAINING
Having dug 15 wells in the Mhondoro community there was a need to train community members in basic borehole (well) repairs to reduce downtime when boreholes were not functioning and to empower the communities to look after/service the boreholes on their own. A.D.M. sponsored the training of 22 people from different communities where we have dug wells. The training was conducted over a period of 5 days.
Of the 22 participants only one woman was trained and they all received certificates. The participants managed to resuscitate two boreholes and no injuries were recorded during the training.
COMMUNITY GARDENS TOUR & TRAINING
There are currently six community gardens that are operational. Our field officer together with 2 agricultural experts in the community toured the gardens to assess the performance of the gardens. From the tour, training was then organised to assist all members of the community gardens to improve and increase productivity as well as knowledge of other different vegetables to grow. Over 100 members attended the training.
To Sponsor A:
Community Garden = $ 300
Borehole (well) = $ 6,500
Borehole maintenance tool kit = $ 2,000
